  • "Made to Measure" Info

Please take the following measurements and include them in the "Extra Info" box when you place your order. Please take the actual measurements of your child's body and we will add on enough ease when making the pattern to allow nice comfortable movement (we don't make the flower girl dresses as snug fitting as our adult dresses). However, please let us know if you are ordering a dress for a child that is for an event more than a few months away as we may need to allow for extra growing room (or it may be a good idea to put down a fabric deposit rather than ordering the dress to delay taking the measurements until nearer the time).

Overbust/chest: take the tape measure around the upper part of the chest with the tape measure going under each armpit and around the back, meeting at the front

Chest: please take this around the fullest part of the chest Underbust measurement: this is around the ribcage just under where you took the previous measurement

Natural waistaround the smallest part of the waist which is normally an inch or so above the belly button - after taking this measurement it might be a good idea to tie a ribbon or belt around the waistline to make it easier to take the rest of the measurements

Front Shoulder seam to waist: from the top of the shoulder with the tape measure going down over the front of the chest on one side to the natural waistline

Back shoulder seam to waist: from the top of the shoulder with the tape measure going down one side of the back to the natural waistline

Back length: from the nape of the neck, the knobbly bit, to the natural waistline

Arm Scye: This is the measurement that determines the size of the arm holes of the garment. Please take this measurement all the way around the top of the shoulder and under the armpit meeting at the top

Shoulder width: this should be taken straight across the back of the shoulders, from the corner of one shoulder to the corner of the other, without curving the tape measure around the sides of the arms

Natural waist to the bottom of the knee: this is the skirt length, please measure from where you took the waist measurement down to where you would like the skirt to finish.
